Caroline (someone whose LJ I peek in on from time to time and is two degrees of separation from me) is asking for people who have played Diplomacy so she can get a game going.

I have, but honestly, I'd rather find a bunch of people up for my favorite two-hours-of-strategy-and-horsetrading game, Acquire. And the rules are a bit simpler, so it's a little more newbie-friendly. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of the game, and I doubt I could rouse any of the locals to play.

And I'm not going to pipe up and say I've played Diplomacy, because then I'd feel like I've violated some level of trust I have in my degrees of separation. The degrees protect me, I guess.

Oh well. Guess it's back to smacking around the French in Age of Empires 3.

  1. Perhaps, but Aquire is a great game. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone else who has played that outside of my family. I'm always game, but I doubt you'd be real keen on playing in Omak, Washington...

  2. Dylan,

We (my siblings and I) used to play aquire all the time. I still have the game in the box with all the pieces, too. I'll send it to you if you want it.

    Love,

    Mom

  3. That solo game playing must be worlds better than, say, posting to your blog! :)
