I have returned to the soccer pitch for a short stint. Three games in the coed 5-on-5 soccer tourney. Thing is, I'm 30, but everyone else is an undergrad. Talk about a generation gap. Last time I played competitive soccer, Iran was still under the control of the Shah.
Our governor, Gary Locke, gave the Democratic rebuttal to the State of the Union address. Mr 30% Approval Rating trying to lecture the president on leadership. I guess the good news is he won't survive the next election in 2004, but the bad news is the GOP has no one with a bone of leadership in their body and the Dems are just as bereft. Here is a cartoon on the subject.

Rice Cookers and Resignations
Tonight's dinner will be courtesy of the Krups Rice Cooker. Yes, I own a German rice cooker.
Susan has resigned from the foundation because the job was not what they sold it as. Turns out it was more clerical than she thought. So, she'll be temping and working on her freelance writing until we starve to death. Kidding.
As a final goodbye to my expendable income, I purchased SimCity 4. It's a very complex game, but the good news is that they simplified a lot of the actual city management and are focusing more on zoning, quality of life, and mass transit. My little peeve with the game is that the new regional system (imagine the houses in the Sims where the neighbors all interact, except the neighbors are towns and people from town A can work in town B and vice versa) can be seen as promoting sprawl. The graphics are gorgeous, though, especially if you have a GeForce4 Ti4200 like myself. :)
