Christmastime is here

Many new people in this circle, and a lot of new address for the Christmas card list.

If you want to be added to the Christmas card list, you can e-mail your snail mail to me. My user name is wnalyd. The domain is gmail dot com. There's an at-sign somewhere in that equation.

If you got one last year... you'll get one this year. If you moved (Hi George and Becky), e-mail me in the place alluded to above.

Tonight the cell phone let me down

I'm standing the grocery store trying to remember the corn casserole recipe. So, I think, why not use the cell phone web browser?

Heh. No. The size of the recipe is too large for the cell phone's WAP browser.

So, after putting the recipe on the web so I won't forget it, I can't access it when I need it.

Any of ya'll have ides for getting Moveable Type to work with WAP?

He can make you laugh

So, I saved my money and bought myself a 40GB iPod. Just a music one, not one with photos. Unfortunately, I've discovered my music collection is about 500MB smaller than 40GB, so some editing is in order.

While I'm thinking about it, I signed up with this iTunes Affiliates thing, and thought, hey, let's make some coin off my vast readership of 8. Tonight's selections: two odd cover songs.

The Guitar Man "The Guitar Man," Cake -- Yes, it's a Dan Fogelberg cover, but oddly for Cake, no tongue in the cheek.
The Scientist (Live) "The Scientist," Aimee Mann -- This song tells you two things: Chris Martin is an underrated songwriter, and Aimee Mann is an underrated singer.

And a dedication to someone holding a news conference early next week:
I bought a novel, some perfume
A fortune all for you
But it's not my conscience
That hates to be untrue
I asked of my reflection
Tell me what is there to do

Today is Oklahoma's 97th birthday, and it doesn't look a day over 95.

I am working on some longish posts. Maybe they'll go up soon.

I finally updated my list of links on the right to include people I long promised to link to as well as some of the local Seattle/Tacoma bloggers.

At some point I will, finally, at long last, redesign this damn site.

Having an Apple educational discount is a nice thing, but it sucks when the only physical store in town that will sell you an iPod is out of them and doesn't know if they'll have any in this week.

In a moment of serendipity, I discovered the Conet Project, which is a guy who has collected recordings of numbers stations. There was a bit about it on NPR last week that I missed.

In the end...

...you shouldn't change handbaskets midway to Hell.

At least the monorail survived.

And to my Oklahoma readers

If you voted for Tom Coburn, you are off the Christmas card list.

If you haven't voted yet, please don't vote for Tom Coburn. Vote for Carson. Leave that spot blank. Just don't vote for Coburn.

I'm tired of having to explain to people why Coburn could be leading in Oklahoma despite the "rampant lesbianism" quote, or his comments about the Cherokees not really being Indians , or even the cryptic statement about blacks being genetically inferior to whites, he's still going to win.

Coburn is a disaster waiting to happen. He's going to make Oklahoma a red state -- from embarrassment.

So, please, all of you Oklahomans out there, DON'T VOTE FOR COBURN. That is, if you want a Christmas card from me anytime over the next six years.
